The day started quite cloudy and breezy, but by the time we started our walking tour of the Lower East Side the sun had come out and we had another beautiful day. The provider of this walking AND eating tour is Big Onion. Back when Beth worked in NYC we started taking tours with them. We have never been disappointed and this was no exception. In fact, it had some great highlights... good historical information about the tenements, Chinatown and Little Italy, and some diverse food samples along the way.

We sampled pickles, halvah, Italian salami and cheese, plantains, spicy tofu, cannoli and homemade ice cream.... yummy stuff! They are extremely reasonably priced and provide tour guides who are well versed in the historical background of the area the tour covers.
The sights of the day were really amazing.....
